The Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) is thrilled to announce a one-of-a-kind benefit concert featuring Sonic Vortex at the Museum of the Earth on September 28. This immersive event will combine live music, cutting-edge visuals, and scientific exploration to support PRI’s mission of providing educational programs to inspire the next generation of science learners.
Sonic Vortex, an innovative trio made up of Ben Luce, Douglas Boyd, and Pete Black, is renowned for its ability to blend sound with captivating visual effects. Attendees will experience a mesmerizing fusion of live music and real-time visuals, with Sonic Vortex using sound to create dynamic, evolving imagery. The performance will also offer insights into the science behind the music, creating an unforgettable evening where art and science collide. In addition, Sonic Vortex's presentation will honor local Dr. David Luce, former president of Moog Music Inc., whose groundbreaking work in synthesizer technology, alongside Robert Moog and others, transformed the world of music. Moog Music Inc., based in Buffalo, NY, succeeded Robert Moog’s original company, R.A. Moog Inc., which began in Trumansburg, NY.
“We are very excited for this concert and grateful to Sonic Vortex for their support of PRI. All proceeds from this event will help us continue to provide educational programs to our community,” shared Warren Allmon, Director of PRI. "This event is not just a concert—it's an opportunity for the community to come together, support local education initiatives, and enjoy an evening where science meets art.”
Liquid State Brewing Company will offer a selection of beers for purchase at the event. Attendees can also explore the Museum of the Earth’s newest exhibit, “Fragile Wonders: Cornell's Blaschka Glass Invertebrates.”
