B.S. in Entomology, Cornell University

Overview

Emily recently graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Entomology and a minor in Science Communication and Public Engagement. Her enthusiasm for paleobiology stemmed from her passion for arthropod biology. She is broadly interested in arthropod evolution, particularly in understanding the evolutionary mechanisms behind morphological change in trilobites. During her undergraduate studies, Emily conducted an Honors thesis focusing on recurrent trilobite specimens from the upper Devonian of Ithaca. She also served on the executive board of the Pangea Club at Cornell for several years, both as Vice President and President of the club. In these roles, Emily led fossil hunting trips throughout Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region, and some of the fossils she found on these trips have been on display at the Museum of the Earth!

Emily is currently continuing her upper Devonian trilobite research by expanding her dataset and conducting 2D geometric morphometrics, while also assisting the Director at the Paleontological Research Institution!
